Rajasthani marble paintings are renowned all over the world for their delicate work and intricate designs. Traditionally, they use enamel paints, gold leaves, semi-precious stones and coloured glass pieces to create complex works of art like no other.
Rajasthani marble paintings were developed in the 16th century and have enjoyed the patronage of Rajput nobles ever since. They usually depict mythological figures, jewellery, musical instruments and historical scenes of Rajput valour.
There are various schools of style for this art form – Kishangarh, Jaipur, Kangra and Mandi. Each has its unique style and favourite motifs. For instance, the Kishangarh school is famous for the way it depicts ladies. Similarly, the Jaipur School focuses on religious themes as well as musical instruments and jewellery.
